Dave Keightly was elected Chair of the Montgomery Township Democratic Committee on August 11, 2015, following the unexpected resignation of his predecessor.
Dave, a lawyer since 1984, served 18 years as Magisterial District Judge for Montgomery Township, and parts of Hatfield. His district previously included Lansdale Borough. Now that he has retired from that office, he is permitted to be involved in politics again, and has happily taken that opportunity.
Dave was an active Democrat from the time he turned 18 until he returned to the area following law school, when he followed the recommendation of an employer and registered Republican. He recalls working with Montco Democratic legend Colleen Alexander and others during the lean years of the local party. He staffed Democratic headquarters, alone, on election day, 1980.
David A. Keightly, Sr., has been married to Karen, since 1982. They have 2 sons, Dave, Jr., who is a lawyer working for the Bucks County District Attorney’s Office, and Derek, who is a first-year student at Michigan State Law School. The Keightlys are a “Blue and White” family, as Dave’s parents met at Penn State, he and his wife met there, both kids graduated from PSU, and Dave, Jr.’s wife, Amanda, also graduated from Penn State.
Dave, Sr. practices law in Lansdale. He is a general practitioner, with a heavy emphasis on Divorce and Criminal Defense. His dream is to one day practice law with both of his sons.
